This recipe intends to be a reply to a Polish friend of mine, Krzysztof, who asked me for an Italian dessert for a special occasion..So here we go Sciscia, Tiramisù is super-easy to prepare, it can be made in advance (one day, so that the ingredients will deliciously mingle), and with few tips the success is simply guaranteed :)
Ingredients for 8 people:
- 500 g Mascarpone (an Italian creamy cheese)
- 5 yolks
- 4 egg whites
- 5 tablespoons sugar + sugar for the coffee
- 2 little cups cooled espresso (or 1 little cup american coffee)
- Pavesini biscuits (they are sold in one big pack; alternatively you can use Savoiardi biscuits)
- sweet cocoa powder
- 50 g chocolate shavings (optional).
Start preparing the coffee, sugar it according to your taste and leave it aside for it to cool off.
Beat egg whites until stiff and white, and put them in the fridge.
In a separate bowl, whisk the yolks with the sugar together until they become smooth and thick. Add Mascarpone and whip until well incorporated. Then add the egg whites little by little. Of course I suggest you to use an electric cake mixer, otherwise also a whisk is fine (even though a bit more time-consuming..). Now the Mascarpone mousse is ready.
Take a pan (or small glasses like in the picture) and line the bottom of it with the biscuits. Pour some coffee (which should not be hot anymore) on them, and then pour 1/3 of the mousse and smooth it. Repeat other 2 layers of biscuits, coffee and mousse until the top of the pan.
Dust the top with cocoa, using a strainer. If you wish you can then generously sprinkle the chocolate shavings on the top :)
Put the Tiramisù in the fridge for at least a couple of hours and then...Apetyt bon and let me know how it worked!
